I watched the last movie before I
read the last Harry Potter book. When I first watched the last movie, The
Deathly Hallows Part 2, I thought it was Neville Longbottom who really saved
the day. Neville, in the movie, was more of a hero. As Ron and Hermione awaited
their death by being attacked by the last horax, Nagini, it was Neville that
killed her. After that scene, it seemed like the movie was one big finish.
Cause right after Voldemort just died on scene. However, in the book, it says
that Neville was caught on fire and then took the Sword of Gryffindor out of
the Sorting Hat. I like to think that in the movie Neville seemed to be the
true hero. It seemed like the moment Nagini was killed Voldemort died.
However in the book it was Harry who really killed Voldemort because he
used his wand. I wonder why in the movie the directors decided to use Neville
as more of a main prop.
I thought it was interesting how
both the ending of the book and movie Neville had changed. From the beginning of the series, Neville was
this awkward kid who no one thought was ever Gryffindor material. By the end of the series, he was able to pull
the Sword of Gryffindor out of the Sorting Hat, which only one other person was
able to do that and that was Harry Potter.
In a way, I feel like Neville played a big role in the series. This was
shown in both the movie and book series.
