Like the first
time I read the series I did not want the story to come to an end. The end chapters
were so good at tying up loose ends; but I can’t help asking for more. I really
did not like how at the end Harry wanted a sandwich and to go to sleep. It seemed
like such an anticlimactic ending. I was hoping he would find Ginny and kiss in
the victory together, but that would probably been too much happiness for him
at the moment.
I was blindsided
with the developments on Dumbledore’s youth. Harry along with some many others
placed such hope and trust on Dumbledore. No one has a perfect past but as
Dumbledore admits himself his was dark. This being my second time reading the
books I still can’t decide how I feel about Dumbledore. I was so mad when I
found out he like Voldemort tried to conquer death. Yes it was a young man’s
folly being influenced by Gindlewald but his denying the truth to himself is
serious. He hated being confined to helping his needy sister claiming to
himself he was brilliant and deserved more. He worked to achieve Muggle torture
for “the greater good”. He trained Harry up for a fight he may never come away
from, a fight he may die “for the greater good”. His dirty secrets from his past
maybe forgiven because he used the rest of his life to train young wizards and ultimately
bring about Voldemort’s end. It could be argued that since Dumbledore was so
instrumental in the wizarding world and achieved so much his dark desires
should be forgotten. Personally from the King’s Cross chapter I felt Dumbledore
still didn’t forgive himself for his past and if he hasn’t how can we? But Harry doesn't seem to think this way, he forgives him quickly. he doesn't want to see his mentor afflicted by shame and sadness he accepts him as the man he knew rather then the one he did not know. accepting that he had a plan even though he didn't disclose it with Harry fully; it cost Harry his life in a sense yet he could forgive him surely we are all meant to do the same.
This story is fitting
for the time because there are always rulers/ people trying to oppress others. The
importance of love is strengthening for readers if they are in a situation
maybe they can act thanks to Harry’s selfless example. Willing to do anything
for someone else; putting great differences aside to help some evil to you
like, Draco was to Harry. The story is important because we can make a
difference, good people can be bad, bad people can be good and forgiveness is
huge!
