Blog #3 My trip to hogwarts

One of the greatest children’s books which remarkably took all ages by storm is filled to the brim with so information and various genre’s covered. From the coming of age, to good vs. evil harry potter covered it all. From the age of when I was 10 and I first read the sorcerer’s stone to when I was 21 and the last book had come out and the last ever midnight movie release and book release of the magnitude harry potter had come to be known for. Harry potter took the world by storm and it consumed my life for quite a few years.
One of the biggest things however that points out to me when I look back at all of the magic that my generation helped create is that if we did not dare to believe in this book it would have never picked up off the ground. However, that was not the case and what was created was pure magic. The biggest midnight releases ever for a book or film where thanks to the harry potter franchise we truly raised the bar.
Harry potter’s predominant genre to me is the genre of good vs. evil. From the very beginning of the series we are presented with the story of how Harry’s parents got brutally murdered and it was only due to their love that he survived. All the way throughout the series this and various smaller fights with good vs. evil took place. This genre is heavily drawn upon starting in the half blood prince when Dumbledore is killed by Snape and then in the deathly hallows where Dobby, Hedwig, Lupin, Tonks, Snape and many others are killed in an attempt to stop Voldemort. This book shows in great detail that you cannot stay innocent forever and that if good vs. evil are to fight each other it will be at great expense from both. It also shows you while teaching you those lessons through the use of Dumbledore and Snape that you cannot always judge a book by its cover.
From the beginning it looks as if Snape is after harry and that Dumbledore is always truthful to Harry, but we find out in deathly hallows this is not true. When Snape is on his death bed he orders harry to take one of his tears and it is then that we realize we may not have known at least Snape at all. We quickly are forced to go from hating Snape to wondering if he has simply been dealt a bad hand that because of his love for Lilly he is willing to play.
Although the series is done, I have no doubts due to the amount of information provided, lessons learned, and genres incorporated into the Harry Potter books it will be passed on from generation to generation for some time to come. However, personally I must say I wish the ride was not over and that I could act like I was going back to Hogwarts with Harry, Ron and Hermoine for the first time again. I will always remember my first time to Hogwarts, the good times I had, the countless amounts of nights with no sleep because I could not stop reading. But sadly it is over and we are forced to move on, and reread our beloved stories again and again acting like we are taking the trip for the first time.
